Hope + Life Church’s Story: Growing a Diverse Family Rooted in Jesus Culture
Our History
Hope + Life Church was founded in 1976 as United Pentecostal Church of New Britain, beginning at 40 Beatty Street in New Britain, Connecticut.
As the church grew, so did the need for a larger facility. In 1996, we purchased a former bank building at 94 West Main Street in New Britain and transformed it into our new church home. The facility accommodated approximately 200 people and provided room for the congregation to continue growing.
After once again outgrowing our facility, we took another step of faith. In 2004, we built our current church building at 517 Farmington Avenue in New Britain, Connecticut. At that time, we began doing business as The Pentecostals of New Britain.
Through the years, God has continued to grow our church—not only in size, but in diversity, ministry, and influence within our community. What began in 1976 as a local congregation has continued to evolve while remaining committed to the Gospel, the presence of God, and reaching people with the hope of Jesus Christ.
Today, we look toward the future with the same faith that carried us through every season, believing that Hope + Life Church is called to bring Real Hope. Real People. Real Change.
Pastor Louis Brown serves as the Senior Pastor of Hope + Life Church, formerly known as The Pentecostals of New Britain (NBUPC). After serving as Assistant Pastor for eight years, he was elected Co-Pastor in February 2021 and became Senior Pastor in 2022. He also serves as the Northeast Region Prayer Coordinator for the World Network of Prayer (WNOP) and as the Connecticut North American Missions (NAM) Secretary.
Pastor Brown authored Priest, Prophet, King: Wearers of the Ephod, the first book in a three-part series.
Sis. Marie Brown serves as Executive Assistant to the Pastor, Pastor of Iglesia Esperanza + Vida, the church’s Spanish daughter work, and President of Connecticut Ladies Ministries.
Together, Pastor Louis and Sis. Marie Brown attended Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota, for four years, earning bachelor’s degrees in Theology with an emphasis in Christian Ministries. In June 2006, they moved with their family to New Britain, Connecticut, to put their biblical training into action. They received their ministerial credentials in 2007, and Pastor Brown was ordained in May 2019.
Together, they are committed to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, strengthening families, serving their community, and advancing the Kingdom of God through their ministry and leadership.
